About us

ROR Tax Professionals is a firm focused on the tax preparation and planning needs of individuals and small businesses.

Once Upon a Time...

Lee Roehl founded ROR in 1991, along with Dave Olds and James Reynolds.  They completed their first tax season over 30 years ago, although both Lee and Dave had been preparing tax returns many years before forming the company. In fact, Lee prepared returns at home, in his basement, as far back as 1970!

Roehl, Olds and Reynolds, or ROR Financial Services, Inc. as it was known at the time, spent it’s first two decades in the Minneapolis Uptown area, as a firm focused on the needs of LGBTQ couples.  Long before marriage equality, ROR helped LGBT couples navigate the tax complexities of being unmarried, having children, and owning a home together.  We had a goal to help folks understand their taxes, take advantage of their unique situations, as well as help them increase their net worth and save for retirement, all while planning for and finding opportunities to reduce taxes.

With so many happy clients, these folks began to recommend us to their friends and families outside the LGBTQ community.  In 2007 we moved to the suburb of St Louis Park where we’ve grown to serve a broader community.

ROR Tax Professionals Today

Although all three of the original partners have passed, we continue to have the same goal: Helping clients better their financial lives.  Lee’s goals remain important pillars in our work; to help folks build their net worth, own a home, contribute toward their retirement, and give back to their communities.

Today, we have three Enrolled Agents, a Certified Public Accountant and several Tax Specialists on staff, as well as a Certified Financial Planner to assist you with your tax preparartion and planning needs.

In addition to the traditional tax services, the business has grown to include other business services such as bookkeeping and accounting services as well.  Most importantly, we continue to help folks plan for and understand their taxes.
